The Bear's Club is a Private 18-hole golf course located in Jupiter, Florida.
The Bears Club Golf Course opened for play in 2000. Jack Nicklaus designed the course.
The Bears Club is practically a shrine to Jack Nicklaus, who lives nearby. Plus, Jack's wife Barbara designed the interior of the Tuscan-style clubhouse. The Bears Club is situated on more than 400 acres of pristine land that boasts a 40,000 square foot clubhouse, 68 luxurious estate residences, 17 golf villas, and 11 club villas.
The course is covered with old pines and palmettos. There is a 12-foot-high sand ridge running across the site. Jack enhanced it and added a couple of others that look equally natural. He integrated the design into the environment by retaining native brush wherever possible, separated from playing areas by transition areas of sand and pine straw. It has high-banked bunkers with special sand from Ohio; it won't wash out in a rain shower.
The Bears Club clubhouse creates a sense of escape and nostalgia for members with its Tuscan architecture, old-world furnishings, and tranquil environment. Members of this prestigious Jupiter golf course community appreciate the 5-star service, a white-glove concierge program, exemplary staff, and highly revered chef. The clubhouse hosts many activities and events during the year and is the social gathering spot for residents and members.
The Bear's Club membership role reads like the upper reaches of the World Golf Ranking: Rory McIlroy, Luke Donald, Ernie Els, Keegan Bradley, Dustin Johnson, Camilo Villegas. Michelle Wie's a member, too, as is Michael Jordan.
It's quintessential Nicklaus from start to finish: forgivingly wide fairways, scores of bottomless bunkers, enormous greens with roller-coaster undulations, and water hazards every few holes.
Unlike Muirfield Village, The Bear's Club is not intended to be a tournament golf course but a premier private club.
The Bear's Club plays to a par-72 and a maximum of 7,164 yards.
